Revised Draft Master Plan Alternatives Available Online
At the December 2006 Consulting Party meeting, GSA presented five revised draft alternatives for the development of the West Campus of St. Elizabeths. The draft alternatives show a range of development from approximately 3.0 million square feet to 4.5 million square feet plus parking. The draft alternatives are available online.

Draft Master Plan Alternatives Available Online

At the April 2006 Consulting Party meeting, GSA presented seven draft alternatives for the development of the West Campus of St. Elizabeths. The draft alternatives show a range of development from approximately 1.5 million square feet to 4.5 million square feet plus parking. In addition to being available online, GSA anticipates holding a Ward 8 public meeting in early June to present the draft alternatives to the community.

On Thursday, May 4, 2006, members of the GSA St. Elizabeths West Campus team will be participating in the South Capitol Street Corridor Community Update Meeting. The meeting is being hosted by the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) and will include updates on DDOT projects in the South Capitol Street Corridor as well as other projects in the area.

Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton Hosts Community Meeting About West Campus
District of Columbia Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton hosted a Ward 8 community meeting on April 5, 2006 to discuss the proposed development of the West Campus. Delegate Norton, Ward 8 Council Member Marion Barry and Advisory Neighborhood 8C Commissioner Mary Cuthbert were joined by officials from GSA, the U.S. Coast Guard, D.C. Department of Transportation, D.C. Office of Planning and the National Capital Planning Commission.

The meeting focused specifically on plans for the federally owned 176-acre West Campus to remain a federal campus with office space for elements of the Department of Homeland Security and the headquarters of the U.S. Coast Guard.

Delegate Norton hailed the federal government's decision to locate a headquarters agency and up to 14,000 federal jobs east of the river as a great opportunity for Ward 8. GSA Public Buildings Service Commissioner David Winstead's remarks focused on GSA's commitment to maintaining GSA's role as responsible developer and landlord with a proven track record. At the end of the presentations Delegate Norton took questions from the audience. Among other concerns Ward 8 residents expressed concerns about public access to the site, jobs for Ward 8 residents, traffic, and contracting opportunities for Ward 8 businesses.

On Saturday, February 25, 2006 GSA will participate in the Anacostia Transportation and Development Information Fair sponsored by the District of Columbia Department of Transportation (DDOT). GSA's development of the West Campus will be included at the Information Fair which will highlight transportation and development projects planned for Anacostia. The Information Fair will be an open house format and will include the opportunity for participants to take bus tours of the neighborhood including the West Campus of St. Elizabeths.
